In order to know if God wants you to date a person, you need to first consider if he wants you to date at all. But he also made it clear that was his own opinion, not a direct order from God. He also pointed out how it was better to be married than to be distracted by lust.
Quite the contrary—He created marriage. Marriage is also a beautiful depiction of Christ and His bride, the church Ephesians 5. Dating is the first step toward marriage. While extreme versions of courtship can be unhealthy, the idea of casual dating among Christians is typically a bad idea.

It’s no secret that marriage is on the decline in the United States. The most recent Census revealed that 32 million Americans are now in single households, and that married people are no longer the majority. Some are single by necessity or life circumstances, others by choice or career aspirations. And then there those who are functionally single but married to themselves. What does the Bible say about? So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude.
It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Last year, I lived in anxiety wondering how in the world do I know if this is the man God wants me to date? I was paralysed with uncertainties. I had met a man who loved Jesus, but did that mean we should date? I was uncertain if God was opening a door or if our meeting in an elevator was just a random occurrence. Thankfully, I learned a new model for decision making and the decision became clear. The Bible does not answer every question we ask.
The Bible only shows what is right and wrong in certain areas, thus we should only consult the Bible in these areas. We often think the Bible is a magic book that answers everything, but in regards to dating, not much is said. Dating was not even a concept in Biblical times. The most specific answer the Bible provides for who to date is to make sure that you are not marrying an unbeliever 2 Corinthians So, ask yourself, is he a believer?
Now is the time to look into your life and his life and to ask yourself if there are any moral reasons you should not date. Spend time with him in groups and see how he interacts with other women. What are your friends saying about him?
